Giving FAQs

Is my gift tax deductible?
All contributions are fully tax deductible according to IRS guidelines.  Please check with your tax advisor for details regarding your individual circumstances.

Can my gift be made anonymously?
Yes. When you send in your contribution, be sure to let us know that you would like it to be anonymous and we will honor your request. As a donor, you can choose one or all gifts to Erie Day School to remain anonymous.

Can I make a gift for a specific purpose or to support the endowment?
Yes. If there is a specific project you would like to fund, please let us know. Capital campaigns generally provide named gift opportunities. The endowment fund secures Erie Day School’s long-term future and generates operating revenue each year by using only a portion of the interest and earnings.  Endowment gifts are professionally invested and managed to provide income for the School’s operating budget in perpetuity. Gifts to the endowment may be of any size and may designated for a particular purpose.

Can I make a gift in memory of someone or to honor a special individual?
Yes. The individual or family will be notified of the gift(s) and receipts will be distributed.

My company offers a matching gifts program.  Would Erie Day School be eligible?
Yes. Matching gifts are an easy way to double, or in some cases, triple your gift to Erie Day School.  Area employers such as Erie Insurance, GE Transportation and PNC Bank all have matching gift programs.

If your company is eligible, request a matching gift form from your employer, and send it completed and signed with your gift. We will do the rest. Some companies match gifts made by retirees and/or spouses as well. If your organization offers matching gifts and they are not listed, please let us know by calling 452-4273, Ext. 106.

May I make a deferred or planned gift?
Yes. Erie Day School can benefit from the loyalty and generosity of the people whose lives it has touched and transformed. Opportunities for planned giving include bequests, gifts of retirement assets or life insurance, and charitable gift annuities, remainder trusts and lead trusts.

What is the difference between Annual Giving and a Capital Campaign?

Annual giving occurs each year and the funds are used within that academic year.  Capital campaigns are conducted periodically to provide significant funds for additions to endowment and construction/renovation projects. Contributions are generally pledged over one to three years.

Does Erie Day School have policies related to accepting gifts?
Yes. Erie Day School has a fundraising and no solicitation policy.
