Extracurricular Activities

Erie Day School provides a wide variety of extracurricular activities for all of our students. Activities occur before school, after school, and on the weekend.  Some of the many benefits for students include:

  • learning time management and prioritizing;
  • getting involved in diverse interests;
  • learning about long-term commitments;
  • raising self-esteem; and
  • building solid relationship skills.

Current extracurricular activities (note that registration fees or hourly costs may apply):

ACADEMIC

Homework Support - Mrs. Rogers is pleased to announce that Homework Support will be offered this year for all students in Middle School (Grades 5 – 8), Monday through Thursday. Often it is much more convenient for families to have assignments, test reviews, and projects completed immediately after school, thus freeing up time for additional activities or relaxation. Beginning Monday, September 11th, students who are interested in this service only need to arrive in the English classroom by 3:30 p.m.  They may stay after for 30, 60 or 90 minutes any day at a cost of $5.00 per half hour. Parents will be billed every two weeks. Homework Support will not be offered on Fridays. Mrs. Rogers will supervise the work being completed and offer support when necessary. A quiet space in which to work and a snack (provided by Mrs. Rogers) are often appreciated before leaving EDS for the day. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs. Rogers or Dr. Tyler.

First Lego League Robotics Team - Students in Grades 4 - 8 are able to participate in the FLL Robotics Team after school.  The Team has a final regional competition at Penn State Behrend.

Mandarin - Students in Grades PK - 8 will be able to take Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced Mandarin classes on Monday/Wednesday or Tuesday/Thursday after-school each week with Ms. Beverly again this year.

Math Counts - Middle School students are able to participate in Math Counts with Mr. Silakowski.  Math Counts is a competition focusing on building problem solving skills and positive attitudes about math so students embrace challenges and expand their academic and career opportunities in the future.

Model United Nations/Debate - Middle School students are solicited to participate in Model UN/Debate with Mr. Gutowski in the fall. The group begins work as a Friday club during school hours but opportunities will soon be underway for competition in Hershey, PA among other venues.
