EDS Playhouse Presents: Matilda Jr.!

This spring, the EDS Playhouse is thrilled to present Matilda Jr.! Join these clever, “revolting” children as they harness the power of imagination in the Tony Award-winning musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s classic story.

Matilda’s tale begins in a less-than-happy place, with cruel parents and a school ruled by the iron-fisted headmaster, Miss Trunchbull. But with her sharp wit, keen intelligence, and the support of her kindhearted teacher, Miss Honey, Matilda and her classmates outsmart Miss Trunchbull’s wicked tricks! Filled with high-energy dance numbers and fantastically catchy music, this production promises to captivate the hearts and minds of both cast and audience alike.

This year, we are emphasizing both the technical, offstage aspects of production as well as the onstage performances. Students from EDS and local high schools will collaborate with parent volunteers and the creative team to bring lights, sound, sets, props, and costumes to life—ensuring a show that will truly wow audiences!

Important Dates:

• December 8–12, 3:30–4:30 PM: Musical Week – Join the creative team to prepare scenes, songs, and dances before auditions and get a taste of rehearsals.

• December 17–18, 3:30 PM: Auditions

• December 19: Cast List Posted

• March 27–28, 2026: Showtime!
