School Report
Dear Family and Friends of Erie Day School,
As I reflect on my first full year as Head of School, I am filled with gratitude for the students, families, faculty, staff, Board of Trustees, alumni, and friends who make Erie Day School such an extraordinary community. Every day, I have the privilege of witnessing students discover new passions, teachers inspire curiosity, and families invest in an education that prepares children not only for academic success, but for lives of purpose, character, and leadership.
This past year was one of thoughtful growth and intentional progress. Together, we strengthened the foundation of Erie Day School while continuing to invest in the future of our students. From enhancing campus safety and security, expanding technology infrastructure, and strengthening operational systems, to refining our academic programs and student support services, every decision was guided by a single question: How does this help our students learn today so they can lead tomorrow?
Financial stewardship remains one of our highest priorities. Thanks to the careful oversight of our Board of Trustees and Finance Committee, along with the generosity of our donors and supporters, Erie Day School remains on solid financial footing. This year, we continued to make strategic investments in our faculty, facilities, technology, and student programs while maintaining a responsible and sustainable budget. These investments ensure that we are not only meeting the needs of today's students but positioning the school for continued success in the years ahead. Every dollar entrusted to Erie Day School is viewed as an investment in our children and in the future of independent education in our community.
Academically, our students continue to demonstrate exceptional achievement. Erie Day School has long been known for providing a rigorous, engaging, and well-rounded educational experience, and this year was no exception. Our faculty challenged students to think critically, solve complex problems, collaborate effectively, and develop the confidence to pursue excellence both inside and outside the classroom. Whether through classroom instruction, STEM, the arts, athletics, leadership opportunities, or service learning, our students were encouraged to grow as scholars and as compassionate citizens.
Our TerraNova assessment results continue to reinforce the strength of an Erie Day School education. While standardized assessments represent only one snapshot of a student's academic journey, they provide valuable information that complements classroom performance, teacher observations, and daily learning. This year's results demonstrated that our students continue to perform at exceptionally high levels when compared to national norms, with many grade levels earning national percentile rankings well above the national average. Most importantly, the data confirms what we see in our classrooms every day as students are developing the knowledge, skills, and confidence necessary to thrive in high school and beyond.
As we look toward the future, we remain committed to continuous improvement. We will continue evaluating our curriculum, instructional practices, assessment systems, and student programs to ensure that Erie Day School remains at the forefront of independent education. Excellence is never a destination, it is a commitment to always becoming better.
