Erie Day School Earns National Recognition for Student and Parent Engagement

National School Choice Week names Erie Day School an “All Star” for helping families better understand local learning options.

Erie Day School (EDS), an independent Toddler– Grade 8 school is receiving national recognition for its commitment to student-centered learning and for helping families better understand the educational options available to them.

Erie Day School has been named an “All Star” participant in the annual celebration of National School Choice Week (January 25–31, 2026; schoolchoiceweek.com) by the event’s organizer, the 501(c)(3) nonprofit National School Choice Awareness Foundation.

Founded nearly 100 years ago, Erie Day School is known for its inquiry-based, whole-child approach to education. As an independent school, EDS emphasizes academic excellence, social-emotional learning, creativity, and experiential opportunities that encourage students to think deeply, act compassionately, and engage meaningfully with the world around them. Small class sizes, dedicated educators, and a strong sense of community allow students to be known, challenged, and supported at every stage of their development.

More than 26,400 schools across the country participate in National School Choice Week each year, but fewer than five percent earn the “All Star” designation. Schools receiving this distinction go above and beyond to raise awareness of the full range of PreK–12 education options available to families, including public, charter, magnet, private, online, and home education.

All Star” schools are recognized for hosting welcoming, family-centered events that help parents navigate educational choices while celebrating students, teachers, and local school communities.

As part of National School Choice Week 2026, Erie Day School will host a public Open House, inviting prospective families to tour classrooms, meet faculty and staff, and learn more about the school’s mission, programs, and admissions process. The Open House offers an opportunity for families to experience Erie Day School’s warm, engaging learning environment firsthand.

This marks the second year Erie Day School has been recognized as an “All Star” participant by National School Choice Week.
