For more than a decade, Kelly Kovacs has been at the heart of Erie Day School’s community. From rolling up her sleeves as an active parent volunteer to leading as President of the Parent Group and providing thoughtful guidance on the Board of Trustees, Kelly’s dedication has touched every corner of the school. Even after her children moved on, she continued to champion initiatives, support students, and help shape the future of EDS. This year, we are proud to recognize her extraordinary commitment and lasting impact with the 2026 Spartan Award—an honor that celebrates her remarkable service, leadership, and unwavering devotion to our school community.

Erie Day School Celebrates Prestigious Designations in Arts & Environmental Stewardship

Erie Day School (EDS), an independent Toddler–Grade 8 school, is proud to announce three national honors celebrating its commitment to creativity, sustainability, and environmental stewardship.

EDS has been named an Outstanding Visual Arts Community by the Pennsylvania Art Education Association, recognized as the first NOAA Ocean Guardian School in Pennsylvania, and certified as a Schoolyard Habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

“These honors reflect our mission to live with wisdom, kindness, and respect,” said Head of School Donald Fuller. “They show how our students learn to think creatively, act responsibly, and care deeply for their world.”

Erie Day School Continues Longstanding Role as SSAT Testing Site

Erie Day School is proud to continue its role as an official testing site for the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT), a trusted measure for private school admissions since 1957.

The SSAT is widely recognized as the gold standard for evaluating prospective students’ academic skills in reading, verbal reasoning, and quantitative reasoning. By offering this assessment locally for many years, Erie Day School has ensured that its own students—who frequently take the exam as part of their secondary school admissions process—can complete the test conveniently on familiar ground.

“At Erie Day School, we want to remove as many barriers as possible for our students as they take their next educational steps,” said Mr. Donald Fuller, Head of School. “Continuing as an SSAT testing site not only supports our students but also provides an accessible option for families across the Erie community.”

Upcoming testing dates at Erie Day School are Saturday, November 15, 2025; Saturday, December 13, 2025; and Saturday, January 31, 2026.
